Ketamine Therapy
THE MEDICINE
what is psychedelic-assisted therapy?
While psychedelics for therapeutic healing have only recently come back into western medicine, they are increasingly well supported by research and scientific evidence, and also have a rich history in other cultures dating back thousands of years.
Leading research institutions continue to contribute to the growing body of medical literature.
Care Life Clinic’s approach and treatment programs are based on mounting evidence and also honor the rituals and wisdom, passed down through the generations. Being a comprehensive treatment center, our psychedelic-assisted (Ketamine Infusion) therapy program means that we have integrated psychedelic medicine with psychotherapy to treat conditions like treatment-resistant depression, generalized anxiety, and PTSD.
OUR TREATMENT
About ketamine-assisted psychotherapy
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is conducted at lower doses of ketamine than what has been used safely in anesthesia for decades. These lower doses can promote better mental health by disrupting thought patterns or loops that may be preventing progress. Ketamine has many highly therapeutic effects on the brain. Among them is the ability to cause physical growth in the brain’s prefrontal cortex, establishing new connections between neurons while repairing damaged cells. Ketamine causes an increase in neurotransmitters like glutamate that help to build new pathways in the brain, improving function in areas of mood, sleep, and more.
OUR FORMULA
Why combine psychedelics with psychotherapy?
Psychedelics can be a powerful catalyst for self-discovery and healing, and oftentimes, will surface memories, feelings, and thoughts that have been long-buried or that simply enter the consciousness anew. To be able to fully benefit from what surfaces, a structured approach is needed.
This is the primary reason Care Life Clinic program couples psychotherapy with psychedelics experiences. In doing so, our therapeutic teams will support you in addressing, unpacking, and understanding the thoughts and feelings that come up for you. Psychotherapy provides both a structured way as well as a forum to process these thoughts and feelings so that you can integrate the insights you learn into everyday life towards deeper healing.
Our Ketamine Induced (Psychedelic-Assisted) Therapy Program
1: Preparation
Your preparation session is essential to the start of your healing journey with our teams. In this session, you will come to understand what to expect in your treatment sessions, establish your therapeutic relationship, and set the intentions that will shape your treatment experience and integration work. Safety and consent are established here, creating a strong foundation to carry you through your treatment.
2: Psychedelic Exploration
At the start of your psychedelic exploration session, your therapeutic team will review what you can expect and when you are comfortable, administer your ketamine. Our team starts with low doses and will increase them incrementally, based on an assessment of what is optimal for you, over the course of your treatment journey. While no experience is the same, patients often report entering an altered state of consciousness that allows them to feel more deeply and feeling relaxed and comfortable immediately after the session.
3: Integration Therapy
Integration is the heart of our healing process. Your doctor/therapist will work with you to derive meaning from what you experienced and translate it into an awareness and everyday practice. Integration work takes the psychedelic experience and turns it into sustainable, impactful change toward improved health outcomes.
